Michael K. Silva is an artist with no formal art training. However, he has been drawing since he was five years old.
His dark, diabolic, and sometimes erotic artwork was greatly influenced by the paintings of master fantasy painter Frank Frazetta, Heavy Metal Magazine, and Conan the Barbarian comics. Other influences to his work are the dark, fantastic writings of his favorite author Robert E. Howard; master of supernatural horror, H.P. Lovecraft; horror novels; early science fiction films- which includes giant monster films; horror films- the classics to diabolical films of the early 1980s; and various mythologies from around the world.
Mr. Silva’s work is also inspired by the darker aspects of human nature and human emotion, with those of fear, anger, and lust being very prominent in his work. He often blends elements of fear and violence with eroticism, delving into contrasting and sometimes conflicting elements.
His standard medium and style- one that he has used since he began drawing- is pencil or pen on paper and rendering his images in black and white. He has explored work in color. Though he plans to pursue more work in color, black and white images tend to be his favorite style.
Michael K. Silva is a Warlock in the Church of Satan.
